Taste Like Honey
~~~ PREVIEW ~~~
"What do you know about poetry?" Dasia watched him with a guarded look. Sure, he was charming, and yes, he seemed nice. But that's how many of them came off. Especially Florida boys. They grew up around fancy things. They knew how to speak and what to say. Josiah may have been from California, but everything about him screamed Florida. Clearly, his parents picked the perfect new place to call home. Still, Dasia wasn't the prettiest girl in the group. In fact, she found her appearance to be quite dull. The girl was also shy and quiet. So what did he want with her? Her attention soon turned back to Josiah as he began to answer her question. Josiah shrugged.
"What do I know about poetry? Not much." Josiah looked down and realized he was still holding onto Dasia's hand. "I know you carry it. I know you wear the sun as a smile, filling everyone with warmth wherever you may go. Your eyes tell stories that could touch the heinous of all souls. Your voice is heavenly, like the sound of angels, and your scent is sweet, like fresh mangoes coated in chocolate and dipped in honey. I see you sit with the universe, completely oblivious about your importance to this world. I see poetry within you. I see it all around you." He leaned down to kiss her hand before letting it go.
Shrugging again, he stepped back and put his hands in his pocket. "That's what I know about poetry." Before Dasia could say anything, Josiah began to turn and walk away.
